Our highlights of 2021: seizing momentum for global health

3/1/2022 - News

We want everyone, everywhere to receive the health care services they need without suffering financial hardship. The path to achieving that goal is far from paved. However, in 2021 we have seen – and taken – opportunities to push for the structural changes that we envision. We are proud to present our highlights of 2021!

Protection of health

Nearly two years since the start of the Covid-19 outbreak, the virus continues to expose the ruptures in our societies, the inequality, exclusion, and injustices. With every new Covid wave and accompanying measures, governments worldwide struggle to create and sustain the conditions for guaranteeing the protection of the health of all their citizens.

Momentum

At the same time, it has created momentum to build a more equitable, inclusive and diverse global health architecture. More than ever, there is a global understanding and conviction that health and an effective pandemic response transcend countries’ borders.

Structural change

The past year, we have therefore remained determined to continue our advocacy for structural and systemic changes to ensure vaccine equity, stronger health systems, more equitable distribution of health workers, and more sustainable financing for health.
