We are proud to present our year overview 2024. Over the past year, together with our partners around the world, we have continued to take meaningful steps toward a healthier and more equitable world. Yet the challenges remain stark: 2 billion people still lack access to essential medicines, and every 2 minutes, a woman dies from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth. These injustices are unacceptable.
In this difficult global context – marked by political instability and shrinking support for development cooperation – our work is more urgent than ever. By forming strong partnerships and presenting concrete solutions, we help build resilient health systems that serve everyone.

Our year overview shows our successes from 2024, for example:
- We launched the game ‘Monopoly, the medicine edition’, for our Dutch campaign on the importance of fair medicine prices. By handing out Monopoly boxes with information to members of parliament, we put the topic on the political agenda. Parliament then adopted a motion calling on the government to look into the possibility of attaching conditions to government financing of medicines.
- Together with partners, we conducted in-depth analyses and developed concrete recommendations for better financing for health, which we presented to the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In Mozambique, we focused on fiscal space and debt burden, and in Zambia on the effects of austerity measures imposed by the IMF.
- Within the Make Way programme, we developed a checklist to monitor and influence national budgets for sexual and reproductive health and rights. Thanks to this tool, young people in Kenya managed to increase the budget in Nakuru County by 3.5 million Kenyan shillings (25,000 euros).
- We urged the Dutch government to continue investing in global health: we provided input to parliamentary debates, organized a multi-party initiative and published an opinion piece. At the end of 2024, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation confirmed that global health would be a priority in her policy letter (2025), alongside water and food security.
We would like to extend a big thank you to our donors and partners worldwide who made our successes possible!
